Yonkers, NY (March 19, 2018) – Yonkers Pride is coming to downtown Yonkers on Main Street between Buena Vista Avenue and Warburton Avenue. Yonkers Pride, which will be held on June 9th, will offer a festival with a range of activities, vendors, soirees, tasty treats, delicious beverages, workshops, films, music, entertainment and more.
It’s historic! Yonkers Pride is a grass roots effort to bring the first ever Pride event to Westchester County’s hippest town. Festivities will begin with the annual flag raising ceremony at City Hall on June 8th at 4:00pm. The Mayor’s LGBTQ Advisory Board has chosen UNITY to be the inaugural theme. “In Yonkers we pride ourselves in the strength of our diversity,” said Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano. “Congratulations to our LGBTQ Board on the Yonkers Pride festival that will celebrate equality, diversity, and acceptance. Together, we continue to make Yonkers a great place to live, work and play – for everyone.”
Yonkers Pride, with its interactive information stands, its events, and its music, will adorn the downtown Yonkers community where the celebration will go on until late in the evening at all the LGBTQ+ friendly establishments throughout the downtown.
